What to expect on the course:
Inside the Montessori Institute…
…your Trainer supports you every day, every step of the way from novice to professional educator.
You attend theory lectures, topical talks, and peer discussions every morning. You practice with your hands on real, tangible Montessori materials every afternoon. You and your classmates take turns playing the roles of teacher and child, so that everyone can practice presenting lessons with the exact words, actions, voice and vibe you intend use with your own young students some day.
Your classmates, all of whom are aspiring professional educators like yourself, offer helpful feedback and friendly encouragement. Your Trainer tracks your progress through the curriculum, and gives you 1-on-1 coaching in any areas you may need guidance.
With this much support and encouragement from your Trainer and classmates, everybody rises up together!
Outside the Montessori Institute…
…Goa provides endless blue skies, green coconuts, warm sunshine and cool ocean water.
Before class every morning you might choose to go for a walk or a yoga class on the wide, flat beach; join a local gym; or cook yourself a breakfast including warm poie bread, fragrant jeera and rai seeds, and fresh green curry leaves.
After class every evening you might choose to sip feni in a chill neighborhood cantina; dance to throbbing beats in one of Goa’s legendary nightclubs; or quietly volunteer at a local NGO or charitable society.
On the weekends you might rent a scooter or a jeep and explore historical sites or hot windsurfing spots farther afield; or you might enjoy a classy brunch and then just hide in a coffee shop and get ahead on next week’s assigned reading. It’s your choice. It’s always your choice.
Goa is a real-world choose-your-own-adventure story for grownups. What stories will you entertain your family and friends with back home?
....and of course those beautiful Goa beaches!....

But how good is the training?
Will I really be prepared to handle 20-30 children all at one time?
The Teacher Diploma Course is ten months of full-time work. Your in-class learning activities plus your homework outside of class typically equal regular eight-hour work days, five days per week. A number of students continue working on their albums and other assignments during the weekends. The Diploma Course is essentially one full year of university study, including university-level reading and writing assignments outside of class. Our goal at Inukshuk is to turn you into a skilled, professional classroom teacher who always knows how to handle every situation calmly and confidently, even with thirty or more children in your care.
Our Montessori Diploma Course in Goa will be led by Inukshuk’s own Director of Training, Mrs. Tania Stewart.
Tania taught primary children for fifteen years using Montessori methods and materials in top Montessori schools in Mumbai and London. If it can happen with children in a classroom, Tania has seen it and she knows how to handle it. Tania’s mission at the Diploma Course in Goa is to prepare YOU to lead your own classroom full of children safely, skillfully, and confidently.
Graduates of Tania’s Montessori courses say that she is kind, she has impeccably high standards for anyone who would take on the sacred responsibility for children, and she is a supportive teacher. They say Tania is famous for helping candidates understand the challenges of the profession, and helping them visualize their path toward passing the rigorous Montessori Teacher examinations.
Why is a challenging, intensive course the best preparation for the demands of real teaching?
Picture this scene clearly in your mind, with sharp details and vivid colors: one year from now, when dozens of children gallop into your classroom, each with their own unique wants and needs, you will not have time to sit around thinking about what to teach the children and how to harness all that energy. With dozens of children in your care, you must envision a clear plan in your mind before the children arrive, and you must execute your plan smoothly, calmly, confidently, with a smile on your face until the last child leaves. This is the work of a professional. A prepared professional – you – working in your own prepared learning environment.
Online training is poor preparation for in-person work. Can an “online course” consisting of a dozen or so pre-recorded videos and a couple of grainy, glitchy, group video calls really prepare you to be calm and confident with 20-30 diverse children set loose in a classroom full of blocks and beads and triangles and scissors and paints?
Set the children up in advance to be successful with their learning. Set yourself up in advance to be successful with the children.
Make a commitment to yourself right now to work harder in your teacher training, so that you can feel more prepared and relaxed when you get your own classroom and your own children.
Why is an in-person, on-site course with tangible materials the best preparation for the demands of real teaching?
A key feature of Inukshuk’s Diploma Course in Goa is your access to real Montessori learning materials every single day. Putting your own hands on real, tangible Montessori Constructive Triangles, Dressing Frames, Bead Chains, Classified Pictures and other physical materials – as well as giving and receiving feedback on your live, daily presentations with your Trainer and classmates – every day for ten months will deeply prepare you for your real-world classroom in ways that no part-time, video-conferencing, cheap-and-easy, online course can prepare you.
If you built a house for your family to sleep in, would you choose an architect whose architecture school was all videos, with no real concrete, no real pillars, and no actual roof beams overhead?
If you required heart surgery, would you choose a doctor whose medical school was all videos, with zero actual scalpels, forceps, stents or stitches?
As a professional educator, be the professional whose training includes real, tangible blocks and beads and paints in a real classroom. Be the professional whose training includes in-person observations and live practicums with living, breathing children. Be the professional who practices like an elite athlete, until your peak mastery of the materials brings you a calm, focused confidence.
At Inukshuk, we don’t “sell online courses”, we build bulletproof professional educators. At Inukshuk, you have access to real materials so that you can develop real skills for working with real children.
How will you know if I’m ready to guide children?
How will I know if I’m ready?
During the last month of the course, candidates for the Diploma will first pass written exams from our worldwide Montessori organization to demonstrate their knowledge of the “what” and the “why” of Dr. Maria Montessori’s pedagogy.
All who are successful in the written exams will move on to the oral exams. Oral exams consist of giving presentations of Montessori materials (to a visiting examiner from the worldwide organization, who plays the role of a child receiving the presentation) to demonstrate the candidate’s ability to actually work with children in the Montessori way.
Candidates who pass both written and oral exams will graduate with the worldwide-accredited Montessori Primary 3-6 Teacher Diploma. Families are invited to attend the graduation ceremony, and the ceremony will be live-streamed for friends and family all around the world.
This sounds great!
What if I have doubts when I get out into my own classroom?
Graduates of accredited Montessori teacher training join a worldwide fraternity of educators who practice, promote, communicate, talk about, and help each other continue improving in Montessori values and skills. For example, the 7th Indian Montessori Conference titled “Saparya” occurred in January 2026 in Mumbai. The 30th International Montessori Congress will take place in Mérida, México in May 2026.
After graduating with your Montessori Teacher Diploma, you will be invited to join us for all future conferences to continue growing, developing, and strengthening your teaching skills together with 5th-year, 15th-year, and 50th-year educators from every inhabited continent of the world.
Your trainer Tania, as well as other experienced Montessori teachers you meet, will be available to support and encourage you by phone and email in the crucial first year you have your own classroom. Montessori is not just a classroom method, it is a worldwide community of peers who all care about the welfare of children.
This sounds great!
